4 X 4 Jeep Excursions Telluride's colorful mining history left behind more than five hundred miles of the most spectacular four-wheel roads in America. Knowledgeable and skilled driver-guides take passengers high into the mountains, up narrow canyons, across boulder fields and past beautiful rivers and waterfalls. Long-abandoned mining camps remain just as they were left at the turn of last century, and the occasional reclusive animals round out one of our most popular activities. 4 X 4 Tour with Mountainside Lunch The frontier town of Alta was the site of the world's first alternating-current power plant, and today provides the backdrop for the Alta Lakes Observatory. This elegant and remote lodge was painstakingly hand-crafted from native logs and stone, and sits adjacent to one of the area's most stunning alpine lakes. Featured on catalog covers and photographed year-round, the Observatory is the perfect setting for a unique lunch stopfrom white glove plated to burgers and brats. |
