On the Mountain

Skiing

Of course, most people come to Telluride in the winter to ski, and we can assist with all aspects, including rental equipment, lift tickets, even vouchers for lunch on the mountain. Alpine and snowboard lessons are also available, and are designed to enhance the quality of your stay regardless of your ability. We will reserve the most experienced and professional instructors for either private, one-on-one lessons, or group lessons reserved exclusively for your guests. Instructors can even join your group for a reception the evening prior to skiing, come to breakfast, or make introductions at your morning meeting. Instructors act as on-mountain guides, teachers and entertainers. Programs can also be designed to meet your group's specific needs.

Snowbiking

Snowbiking? Yes, snowbiking. Telluride's latest European import is a combination of skiing, sledding, and bicycling on a specially- designed, gravity-powered vehicle that puts a new face to the words "mountain bike". Sure to be talked about long after the end of the program, this activity includes rental and instruction.

NASTAR

Some programs can be fueled by the competitive nature of the participants. A NASTAR race, set up on the Telluride Ski Mountain with a barbecue at its base, is a great way to get everyone involved. The electronically timed course is designed for beginners and experts; race against one another or simply against your own best time. Non-skiers can enjoy the show sipping hot chocolate under a custom decorated tent, and be joined by the racers for a catered lunch.

Nordic Skiing

With more than 20 miles of backcountry and groomed trails, Telluride offers many opportunities to experience the tranquility and exhilaration of Nordic-style skiing. "Free your heel, free your mind," say the experts; beginners can try the sport in Town Park, or use the beautiful trails set over the Mountain Village golf course. More advanced skiers can try Chair 10 to access the trail system near Alta Lakes - with a view of the four corners region at the top - or, for a great backcountry experience, we can coordinate a visit to Faraway Ranch high atop Wilson Mesa.

Heliskiing

There's only one licensed helicopter skiing outfit in Colorado, and it chose Telluride as its base of operations. And with good reason: Telluride Helitrax's backcountry domain includes hundreds of square miles of untouched powder straight out of a skier's dreams. With state-of-the-art airships and the best guides anywhere, Helitrax offers a safe and exciting adventure for programs seeking a unique twist on the traditional ski incentive. Recent advances in powder ski technology have opened this activity to skiers and boarders of every ability.
